They have compact DNA and cells. They are vascular plants often characterised by covered seeds. Angiosperms can be divided into Monocots and Dicots according to the number of Cotyledon, which is the very First leaf of the plant. The monocots have one leaf and the dicots have two. Angiosperms also divide into a number of categories Amborella - one species of tree endemic to New Caledonia. Nymphaeales - aquatic plants , about 70 species including lotus Austrobaileyaceae - sole genus with a single species Austrobaileya - grows in Australia Chloranthales - about 77 known species. Magnoliids - about 9000 species including magnolias, avocado, cinnamon, pepper Monocots - about 60,000 species. 20,000 of which are orchids.
